Rooibos Tea

1. Place 1 teaspoon to 1 Tablespoon of organic Rooibos tea in a tea infuser and place in a mug. 
2. Boil 8 ounces (1 cup) of water and pour over infuser in glass. 
3. Steep at least 5 minutes but up to 15 minutes to desired flavor and aroma.

In addition to this, prepare herbal Rooibos tea as you would black tea. Drink it with a slice of lemon or a smidgeon of milk and sweeten it with honey or sugar. Allergy: The family Fabaceae includes rooibos, a genus of the legume. Avoid rash, itching or breathing reactions - discontinue and consult a physician if they develop.

Liver conditions/medicines: Rooibos is widely consumed and generally safe, but avoid concentrated extracts or very high intakes if you have liver disease or take hepatotoxic medicines; seek personalised advice.

Iron supplements: Tannins and tea polyphenols are low, but still reduce non-HAem iron absorption by 1-2 hr separating rooibowos from iron rich meals/supplements.

Diabetes/antihypertensives: If you take medicines for blood sugar or blood pressure, enjoy in normal amounts and monitor as usual; avoid high-dose extracts.

Kidney stones/oxalate: Low-oxalate Rooibos is generally suitable; For a strict oxalate-restricted plan, check with your clinician.
