Sourced Organically from France, our unroasted Yerba Mate tea (Ilex paraguariensis) is considered one of the national drinks of Brazil.

Hailed by modern medicine as the drink that is for those that want a boost like coffee but without the side effects'. Within Europe, this herb is often used for weight loss, thanks to it's diuretic abilities.

Approved within Germany for the treatment of mental and physical fatigue.
Known to boost the metabolic system by 10%, this is quite the wonderous herb that is gaining popularity rapidly throughout the west.

Also, such a good skin cleanser, that this tea is now being used as a base for some skincare products! Contains higher levels of antioxidants than green tea.

  1. 3 or 4 grams best steeped for 3-4 mins in near boiling water
  2. Many people will also add honey or lemon to this tea for taste
  3. Be careful not to have too much if you're just starting off! This tea is also used as a coffee replacement due to its caffeine levels. Read more about this here.

Taste Profile

Aroma: It is fresh and herbal with green hay notes, light smoke and earthiness.

Taste: A bold, grassy wine with subtle bitterness balanced by vegetal sweetness.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, slightly drying, clean.

Finish: Very long and refreshing with herbal/earthy notes lingering.

Liquor colour: Olive green - golden amber.

Lovely with: Lemon peel, mint, honey, ginger or just plain old ginger.

Yerba Mate Tea - What is it?
It is a traditional South American infusion of the dried leaves of the mate plant, yerba mate is robust in flavour and energetic.

Is it caffeinated?
Yes. Yerba mate contains caffeine and is often drunk instead of coffee or strong tea.

Are there added flavours or sugars?
No. The only thing in pure yerba mate is the mate leaves themselves - no flavours or sweeteners added. For flavoured blends always check the ingredients list.

Does it get reheated?
Yes - if pre-brewed gently reheat; avoid boiling. Or enjoy cold. Refrigerate immediately and consume within 24 hours.

How do I store it/how long does it keep?
Keep cool, dry and away from light. When properly stored, yerba mate can last up to 4 years, although the freshness and aroma are best enjoyed earlier.

How much is shipping?

Couriers Please Shipping is $5.95 for orders under $60 and free for all orders over $60.

Australia Post is always at cost. Orders going to Po Box or Parcel Locker address may be locked in to Australia Post.

What are your transit times?

We dispatch within 24-48 hours (sometimes much faster) and from there we'll see 1-3 days transit to most metro locations within Australia excluding WA and NT which can take a week or so.

We also offer express post which will help speed up the process, at cost with no handling fees. These are always sent as priority and packed first.

Are there any discounts available?

We're quite generous with our loyalty programs, and the best way to take advantage of them is to create an account here. Also if you subscribe to our newsletter you'll gain access to members only discounts, rewards and an initial 10% off first order.

Are your teas certified organic?

Up until recently we were certified organic but due to rising administration costs and the difficulty of maintaining certification we've put this on hold for now. Our suppliers and farms remain the same without any change but just now label things are organic, pesticide free or wildcrafted.

This also allows us to maintain our current pricing without any increases which we feel is more important at this time.
