Light and crisp, our Benshan Oolong (translates to Source Mountain 本山) is a famous easy to drink tea that grows within our farms in the Fujian province.

Transforming your water into a pale golden delight that contains a floral zesty taste with buttery tones, this delicate oolong is definitely one to try if you're in the mood for something different.

This Oolong is also the perfect after dinner drink for friends and family due to its welcoming and universally liked flavour.

Brewing
  1. Bring water to a near boil of 85C.
  2. One teaspoon is recommended per cup.
  3. Steeping time can be 1 to 3 minutes, but please experiment to find your preference.
  4. You should be able to gain 2-4 infusions, with steeping times increasing by 1 minute for each infusion.

Cautionary Notes

Caffeine: Oolong has moderate caffeine (typically 30-50 mg/200 ml).

Sensitive, pregnant or nursing: keep total caffeine under 200 mg/day in pregnancy.

Iron absorption: Tee tannins can inhibit non-haem iron absorption. Drink only with iron-rich meals and/or supplements; Leave an additional 2-3 hours between sessions.

Reflux or sensitive stomach: Symptoms of heartburn can worsen with taking on an empty stomach. Try it with food and avoid very strong infusions.

Kidney stones: tea contains oxalates; If you have a family history of calcioxalate stones, moderate intake and drink plenty of water.

Medication timing: Some medicines may be less absorbed by tea (levothyroxine, some iron or mineral supplements, for example). Take medicines with water and take them out of tea at least 2 hours before taking them.

Allergies: Very rare, but stop if you feel you are sensitive.

Oolong Benshan Tea - What is it?
It is a lightly oxidised Taiwanese oolong from the Camellia sinensis plant that has a floral aroma and buttery flavour. Known for its fresh, elegant character, Benshan is grown in mid-elevation regions of Taiwan.

Is it caffeinated?
Yes, like most oolong teas, it has moderate caffeine - it gives a nice, steady kick.

Are there added flavours or sugars?
It contains no additives or flavourings - no oolong tea leaves.

Does it get reheated?
YES - reheat gently if already brewed - avoid boiling. Or try it cold for a floral iced tea. Refrigerate immediately and drink within 24 hours.

How do I store it, and how long does it keep?
Seal tightly in an airtight container away from heat, light, and moisture. Best within 18-24 months for the best aroma and freshness.

How much is shipping?

Couriers Please Shipping is $5.95 for orders under $60 and free for all orders over $60.

Australia Post is always at cost. Orders going to Po Box or Parcel Locker address may be locked in to Australia Post.

What are your transit times?

We dispatch within 24-48 hours (sometimes much faster) and from there we'll see 1-3 days transit to most metro locations within Australia excluding WA and NT which can take a week or so.

We also offer express post which will help speed up the process, at cost with no handling fees. These are always sent as priority and packed first.

Are there any discounts available?

We're quite generous with our loyalty programs, and the best way to take advantage of them is to create an account here. Also if you subscribe to our newsletter you'll gain access to members only discounts, rewards and an initial 10% off first order.

Are your teas certified organic?

Up until recently we were certified organic but due to rising administration costs and the difficulty of maintaining certification we've put this on hold for now. Our suppliers and farms remain the same without any change but just now label things are organic, pesticide free or wildcrafted.

This also allows us to maintain our current pricing without any increases which we feel is more important at this time.
