Common Questions

What should I use per cup?
One teaspoon of dried Uva Ursi leaf should be added for every 250 ml of hot water.

For how long should I steep it?
Steep for 10-15 minutes in 90-95degC water, then strain. The stronger version will steep slightly longer, but will be more bitter.

Reuse it?
Those same leaves may be re-steeped once for a lighter second cup, but most potency is released in the first infusion.

Does it get reheated?
YES - reheat gently below boiling (70-80 degrees Celsius). Avoid boiling repeatedly to preserve the plant compounds.

Is it caffeine free?
No. Uva Ursi contains no caffeine.

Any added ingredients?
No pure Arctostaphylos uva-ursi leaf without flavoring or preservatives.

Where do I store it?
Keep cool, dark, and dry in an airtight container to protect the natural tannins and volatile compounds.

Any cautions?
Yes. Uva Ursi is to be used moderately for no longer than 1-2 weeks at a time. Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and not recommended for anyone with kidney problems unless advised by a healthcare professional.

Can this be blended with another herb?
Sometimes, combined with bitter herbs like marshmallow root or licorice root, sweeteners and support for urinary comfort are added.

We also offer express post which will help speed up the process, at cost with no handling fees. These are always sent as priority and packed first.

Are your teas certified organic?

Up until recently we were certified organic but due to rising administration costs and the difficulty of maintaining certification we've put this on hold for now. Our suppliers and farms remain the same without any change but just now label things are organic, pesticide free or wildcrafted.

This also allows us to maintain our current pricing without any increases which we feel is more important at this time.
